surprisingly good!

When I started watching Randam Bhavam for the first time, I expected a usual Suresh Gopi actioner with very little brain. But I was wrong! Randam Bhavam ended up being a total surprise. A dark crime-drama, Randam Bhavam is in my opinion Lal Jose's best movie. The movie is about estranged identical twins Kishen and Ananth, one a henchman and the other a famous lecturer. When Kishen's godfather Govidji (played exceptionally well by Thilakan) and Kishen have disagreements, it results in a cat and mouse game where the twins and people related to them get unwittingly involved. Suresh Gopi comes up with a stellar performance so does Thilakan and Biju Menon. Songs by Vidyasagar are marvellous. The cinematography is another plus for this movie. Very different from the usual mainstream Malayalam movies, Randam Bhavam is a violent, dark tale of treachery and betrayal set in Manglore. Although the movie slows down a bit near the climax, it still remains a worthy watch on the whole. Thumbs up to Lal Jose for creating this near masterpiece.
